The News We've All Been Waiting For...Take 2

Yes, it's true...Lee was RE-offered the job as a medical pilot in Nevada!! We were originally offered the job in May, but a few things happened where the company had to postpone hiring. I know what you are wondering: How do we know the same thing won't happen again? Well, Lee talked to the guy for quite a while and had him explain everything that is going on with the company. In the end, we both felt like everything will go through just fine this time.

As I look back at the 2 1/2 months since we were first offered the job, I realize that this is actually better timing for us to start this new job. When we were first offered the job, I said, "It's really too bad you can't start in August." I was mostly concerned about getting the "extra" paycheck in July (although I know it all works out...); and I was also worried about making sure Lee had the day off for Morgan's baptism. There have been a few other things too; and although I know Lee was really looking forward to all the camping trips with us this summer, this is really good timing for the change.

And this time it's really going to happen... :)

Hold That Thought...

Lee got a bummer phone call today. I'm really tired right now (way past my bedtime), so I'll give you the really fast version -- the company he was going to work for went into a hiring freeze because they lost the contract with the hospital in Elko. They are trying to reevaluate and might still come up with a job for Lee, but we're not sitting around waiting. Thankfully, Lee's current company said he could stay on with them. We're just really glad all this happened before we got over there 'cause then we might have ended up without a job. It's a real bummer, though. Lee has to stick with a job that is super trying, and we have to wait with more patience for a job that will bring Lee home. Oh the trials. Don't worry, though, we haven't lost faith yet...

The News We've All Been Waiting For...

No, Denise, we're not expecting! :) This time the exciting news is that Lee got another job! And the best part is that we don't have to move and Lee will be home half of every month (instead of the two days per month we're used to).

Lee will be a pilot for a company called American Medflight. He will be flying out of either Elko, NV (4 hour drive) or Ely, NV (4 1/2 hour drive). Either way, he will be working on a two week rotation -- home for two weeks (yep, that's right; home for TWO WHOLE WEEKS!), then gone for two weeks, home for two, gone for two, etc. He starts training soon, probably in two weeks. This is going to be great!

Lee already has great plans that include going to the temple often and signing up for regular volunteering with an organization such as Habitat for Humanity. We also have several family campouts planned for this summer, and now it looks like Lee should be able to join us for at least one of them. I have grand visions of Lee helping in the girls' classes next school year. Oh yeah, this is the life!

The only people that might have a hard time with this job change are my parents. They've been nice enough to let Lee live with them in Wyoming for the past 18+ months. Lee and my dad had just started golfing together every week. And having Lee at their house gave us a reason to visit way more often than we had before. We'll still go visit lots, but it will definitely be a transition for them. Thanks Mom and Dad for letting Lee stay with you!!!

I realize there will be some adjusting to be done in our home to get used to having our husband and father around more often. The last time Lee "lived" with us Brynne was still in diapers (almost 2 1/2 years ago). But the summer is a great time to make this transition because we can do lots of playing in the two weeks off -- quality time, here we come! :)

Lee Got a New Job!

In case you're wondering, Lee got offered a job with Key Lime Air (http://www.keylimeair.com/). As ironic as it may be, he will be based out of Rawlins, WY (which is where my parents live and where the girls and I lived until five months ago). He will fly freight from Rawlins to Denver and back (with a stop in Hayden, CO each way) for 15 months, and then we'll finally be on to Southwest Airlines. The best part is that he starts training on Jan. 14, which is just one week after his job ends at Big Sky. How is that for a blessing? I just realized this is at least the third time Lee has started a new job right around his birthday (Jan. 16). Hopefully this will be the last time!
