Welcome to the World of Brynne

Both of my girls are very imaginative, but Brynne seems to spend most of her time in a make-believe world. She gets very creative. Many times I am actively involved in this play (see yesterday's post), but sometimes I can get away with being pseudo-involved. Let me explain: Any time Brynne is in her imaginary world, everyone around her is also. Usually, however, those around her can continue to do whatever else they are doing simultaneously as Brynne involves them in her play.

Let's take today as an example. I was once again showering and getting ready. Brynne popped her head into the bathroom to inform me that she was a Pirate Princess (not to be confused with a normal princess) and that I was a pirate. As I continued to get ready, she would periodically come and tell me something else I was doing in her world. I would say "OK" and continue to get ready in my world. I thought I was going to escape actual involvement until I was told that I was needed on the pirate ship. This is a picture of Brynne, the Pirate Princess, on the pirate ship (a.k.a. her bed). I was told that I (the pirate) did not like Littlest Pet Shop toys, but the princess (I mean, the Pirate Princess) had some in her bag. I was supposed to go to the ship and ask the Pirate Princess if I could look in her bag. She told me how the whole conversation was supposed to go. And sure enough, when I finally made it to the ship, our conversation went just as she had outlined. I was beginning to worry what role I was going to be playing next, when the Pirate Princess suddenly informed me that the boat was now her bedroom and I was excused. Now here I am typing this post, and she is telling me all about what I'm doing in her world right now.

The next two pictures are from this morning. Brynne has taken to dressing her stuffed animals in dresses so they can be princesses. Then she pretends to be the prince as she dances with them. (Oh man, I forgot to turn the pictures around again. Sorry...) This kid of mine is one imaginative duck! Have I told you how much I love my Pirate Princess?!!

How nice you didn't need make-up again today. If you ever do need make-up however there will be a Mary Kay order going in soon. Just let me know. Don't tell the princess though - she is beautiful enough already.

We ended up having to get a new computer desk to accomodate our nice new printer/copier/scanner. We had nowhere to put the desk, which I still wanted to keep because I use all the drawers. Then we decided to put the old computer on it for the girls to play computer games on. There is plenty of room for it, but it is an eye-sore for people when they first walk in our house. We may decide to get rid of it still, but we're giving it a try.
