Family Pictures Soap Opera

I am not a fan of taking family pictures, but I am a huge fan of having family pictures. How is that supposed to work? This year I got smart and decided we'd just do one pose and be done in less than five minutes. My always-willing-to-help, awesome friend Denise was willing to be our photographer. It was cold, but who can't hack it for only 1 minute if that means you are all done with family pictures for the year? I'll tell you who can't - my older girls! Talk about complain! It didn't help that the wind was howling. I consider it miraculous that we were able to get any even semi-useful pictures. You gotta love the hair flying everywhere! :)

Did you notice Brynne's outfit? The kid doesn't believe in jeans. She has been known to wear "comfy" pants (i.e. not jeans), but her clothing of choice is a skirt or a dress. I am such a nice mom that I didn't even press the issue of wearing jeans. I was more concerned about keeping everyone happy so we'd manage to get a picture or two. I guess I forgot to let the wind in on my plan...

As luck would have it, my entire family (parents & siblings) got together for pictures a few days after Christmas. Our wonderful cousin Melissa McAllister agreed to be our photographer. Although we were only planning on taking a huge family picture, Melissa offered to do any individual pictures people wanted as well. I hadn't gotten the above pictures back from Denise yet, but I had little hope of anything useful coming out of that attempt (surprisingly, there are some cute ones - except for that darn wind!). I jumped at Melissa's invitation and got the following pictures:

Brynne was pretty upset about having to be out in the cold for these pictures too, but cousin Melissa managed to get a half-smile out of her. I really love the individual pictures of the girls!

Although winter pics were a nice change, I'm thinking I'll be going back to fall pics next time. Question is, how long can I go before there has to be a next time?

I can answer your questions. Every fall you get a new picture to give to your parents at Christmas. They love family pictures also. Great blog.
