So yesterday at church, our ward had almost 20 new callings (meaning 20 different people had been asked to serve in different positions in our congregation). It was also our ward's Fast Sunday, where members take turns at will getting up to share their testimonies. AND there was a baby blessed complete with all the extended relatives visiting.
As luck would have it, it was also the day the microphone at the pulpit decided not to work -- first time I've ever seen that happen. So here they were making tons of announcements that people wanted to hear, but only the first 6-10 rows could hear. With only 20 minutes left in the meeting, someone showed up with a microphone and small amplifier (think karaoke) that they had run home to get. Hey, better late than never, right?!
Imagine my surprise when I went to my pump class at the gym today and discovered that the instructor headset microphone was not working either. Once again, first time I've ever seen that happen. What are the chances!
Tonight we went to Morgan's karate class, and... You guessed it, they didn't have a working microphone. This time the owner forgot to bring it, but the result was the same -- no microphone. And...first time I've ever seen that happen.
Is this all just the weirdest coincidence or what? The only common thread in all of them is me, and I don't think I'm carrying a jinx around with me. Weird.
And as a side note...We're listening to Christmas music. Believe it. :)

Totally all your fault. I knew it, there was something wrong with you! ;)
I have to agree with Sara. You are the only common link. :) Actually I have a problem with electricity you know - and I can't wear a wristwatch - it must just now be manifesting in you. So sorry but have a good day anyway.
Hey Hillary,
The planet of Mercury has been "retrograde," since September 23rd and will go "direct," today, October 15th. The planet Mercury influences communication and transportation. Most of the time, as seen from Earth, Mercury moves through the sky in the same direction as the Sun (direct motion), but when Mercury is closest to Earth it appears to reverse its direction for three or four weeks (retrograde motion).
While Mercury goes retrograde, familiar channels of communication become tangled and confused. There are a lot of other effects that can be noted and the time that Mercury is retrograde is a natural down time for us to do routine maintenance, problem solving, and research. It is also a time when you should avoid making BIG decisions involving verbal or written contract. I know not everyone subscribes to astrology, but this particular planetary body is interesting to watch at work. Mercury goes retrograde 3 to 4 times a year. I personally have learned a lot about taking advantage of this pattern to help myself flow through what can otherwise be a challenging time.
Hugs,
Dory
