Flight Hours & Sleep Problems

What do these two topics have in common? Plenty, I'm sure...but that's a topic Lee will have to tackle. My combining the two is actually quite simple: First, I wanted to make sure you're watching the flight hours countdown on the left side of my blog as Lee's finally up and flying again! Second, I think I solved my sleep problems last night. Since it's a bit of an explanation, though, I think I'll begin another paragraph...

Okay, here's the deal. We rent out the basement apartment of our house. Since I tend to go to sleep much earlier than the nice couple downstairs, and since I don't want them to freeze before bed, I usually don't turn the heat down as much as I normally would at night. I've noticed that on the nights I stay up later and turn the heat down an additional 5 degrees before bed, I sleep all night with no problems. So if I can just make sure the heat gets turned down in the middle of the night, I should solve my sleep problems completely. How will I do this? Simple! I just ordered a programmable thermostat! I don't think I've ever been so excited about spending $50!

So there you have it: Lee's getting flight hours, and I'm getting rid of my sleep problems. What a happy day! :)

Just make sure if Lee misses sleep he doesn't catch up during the accruing of flight hours ...

We love our programmable thermostat, and it's saved us big bucks. Consumer Reports says you recoup your cost over a period of something like 5-10 years, but I think we'll recoup ours sooner. And even if you don't recoup as quickly as we do, sleep is worth much more than money!

Hil- I am the same way! I have to sleep cold or I don't sleep well. I had a companion on my mission that would crank the heat up all night long and have it cranked up when we got home too. She would get ticked off if I turned it down even a little.
One night I couldn't take it anymore so I snuck to the thermostat after she went to bed and turned it down. Then before she woke I turned it up. I think she figured it out because she complained about being really cold and wondered out loud if I messed with the thermostat, but that was the best night sleep I had! :)

Hi, my name is Brynne, one of Michelle's friends. She mentioned you in her blog so I thought I'd take a peek (hope you don't mind) and lo and behold! You have a daughter with my name! WOW! That's the FIRST TIME I've ever seen it spelled the same as mine too! Pretty cool! And you're tough to have a pilot hubby!

I am glad someone in my family appreciates the value of a little cold. Great idea.
